I am using a Belden usb to db9 adaptor/connector to program my 780. In some of the literature, this connection is allowed. In another page it is not supported. It is only alowing one way comm. 780 to pc. What settings are crucial to this setup? Mainly, I'm getting timeouts during pc to 780 xfers.

Hello from Florida,

I've used 2 different DB-9 to USB cables I bought at hamfests for a buck; downloaded the drivers, and had no trouble programming the scanners using ARC 780, Freescan, Proscan, ARC 996, and ARC 96.

Ensure you have the correct driver; you have selected the correct com port; ensure you have the software and the scanner both set to the same baud rate; and using the software, test the connection to the scanner before attempting database upload or download. These steps should solve the problem for you

If you have come here to find out about the Uniden BC-780 you have come to the right place! In fact the discussion of the BC-780 is the only acceptable topic on this list. Please. I hope this is clear to all group members.
